Today's art lesson focused on learning how to shade when drawing in order to create depth. I practiced creating three dimensional objects by shading a drawing of a hallway. I focused on shading all of the hallway doors, the carpet, the windows, and the ceiling. This photograph does not accurately reflect the shading or illusion of depth because the photo is significantly lighter than the actual drawing. Specifically, the doors along the hallway are much darker in the drawing and therefore show more contrast than in the above photo.. Although the photo does not truly show all of the depth and contrast I was trying to achieve, I am overall happy with my drawing and feel like I did a relatively good job for my first real effort at shading a hall. Next time I will shade more heavily in order to provide enough contrast so that my camera will be able to pick up all of the details of my artwork.
