Today we learned how to draw objects from a corner view. In order to do this each corner must be connected to two different vanishing points. I am fairly happy with my drawing. However, The next time I draw a box I will be sure to line up my corners exactly so that the ceiling and floor line up. This will make my art look more realistic and like a real box.
Today's art lesson focused on learning how to shade when drawing in order to create depth. I practiced creating three dimensional objects by shading a drawing of a hallway. I focused on shading all of the hallway doors, the carpet, the windows, and the ceiling. This photograph does not accurately reflect the shading or illusion of depth because the photo is significantly lighter than the actual drawing. Specifically, the doors along the hallway are much darker in the drawing and therefore show more contrast than in the above photo.. Although the photo does not truly show all of the depth and contrast I was trying to achieve, I am overall happy with my drawing and feel like I did a relatively good job for my first real effort at shading a hall. Next time I will shade more heavily in order to provide enough contrast so that my camera will be able to pick up all of the details of my artwork.
Today in class we learned how to draw a hallway with an one point perspective. Today we drew the basic structure. I am happy with my drawing but need to shade and add details. We learned how everything relates to one point (Vanishing Point) I think this is very helpful and will make my art more realistic.
Today in class we learned how to make objects look 3d by drawing from a birds eye view. In my first drawing I need to fix the connections between the straight lines and the circles. In my second drawing I need to learn how to better shade, also I need to correct my poles so that they are shorter. The photo above interest me because of the silhouette of the climber against the bright colored background. This also interest me because of my history with climbing. I took this class so that I can better understand the two parts of art. 1) The technique and rules to follow in order to make art look realistic. 2) The creative freedom to be able to express yourself and make changes to the art while still creating a realistic image.
